In der Höhle des Löwen?

Seit einigen Monaten macht eine neue bewaffnete Gruppe in Palästina von sich reden. Sie gibt sich unabhängig, moralisch integer, aber zu allem bereit. Gegründet in Nablus, gehen bereits einige Schießereien mit Siedlern sowie palästinensischen und israelischen Sicherheitskräften auf das Konto der Areen al-Usood (arab. Höhle des Löwen).

Noch ist unklar, wer diese Gruppe finanziert, wer dahinter steht und wie groß sie ist. Aber eines ist offensichtlich: die Gewalt hat einen neuen, zunehmend populärer werdenden Akteur hinzugewonnen.

Newborn lion cubs were put on display at a zoo in Gaza City, a day after they were born to a mother lion who had in the past suffered miscarriages. Children who visited the small Nama Zoo on Saturday were permitted to pet the day-old cubs, which each weighed about 700 grams, or under two pounds. The zoo, which is home to birds, monkeys, deer, foxes, wolves and hyenas, is run by a private charity, allowing it to better care for its animals. Private zoos have had a harder time caring for its animals, leading some to starve to death and others to be killed by airstrikes in the coastal strip. Manchem mag die Sprache gewöhnungsbedürftig sein, anderen aus der Zeit gefallen, wieder anderen im wahrsten Sinne fort-schriftlich…. Kreuzberg United hat auf seine Hompage einen Reisebericht zu einer Delegation gestellt, die zu dem zum 27. Mal stattgefundenen “Farkha-Festival” (der Palestinian Peoples Party (PPP)) nach Palästina geführt hat… (… einiges dazu ging ja schon durch die Medienlandschaft): Jedenfalls interessant zu lesen:

Danach: Neu verteilte Karten?

Die Hamas hat sich nicht aktiv an der eltzten Auseinandersetzung beteiligt. Hat sie damit in den Augen der Bevölkerung gewonnen, aber ihre Stellung in Iraels Augen gestärkt, so wie in der Vergangenheit die die PNA oft um ihrer eigenen Vorteile willen, dem Druck „der Straße“ nicht gefolgt ist und mit schwindende Einfluß bezahlt hat?

Peacemaking and Justice in the Palestinian Context (1 and 2) are asynchronous, guided, online courses that introduce key concepts in both the theory and practice of peacemaking and justice in the context of Palestine and Israel and as expressed by Palestinian Christians and other international scholars. Combined with the Summer Intensive in Bethlehem, these two courses comprise the Certificate Program in Peacemaking and Justice in the Palestinian Context. These courses are open to both undergraduate, graduate, and auditing students. These are three credit/hour courses offered in the Fall and Spring semesters and are 14 weeks in duration. The Fall semester course begins in mid-September and ends mid-December. The Spring semester course begins mid-January and ends mid-April.
