Bis in die Schlußerklärung des G7 Gipfels hat es der Appell „Call to Action“ geschafft, jetzt gilt es der Politik!
„We affirm our commitment to working together – and with other international partners – to closely coordinate and institutionalize our support for civil society peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that they are part of a larger strategy to build the foundation necessary for a negotiated and lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.“
ALLMEP has spent the last month leading a global coalition united in calling for this new approach from the G7. 37 UK Parliamentarians, 22 Members of the European Parliament, and His Holiness Pope Francis – who attended the summit today– all added their support to the campaign, standing in solidarity with the ALLMEP community and recognizing the critical role that grassroots organizations have to play in any long term, sustainable peace process. The letter was signed by more than 160 Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilding NGOs, and over 200 civil society organizations from around the world, including from places like Northern Ireland, South Africa, Colombia, and Kashmir, where communities know only too well the pain of entrenched conflict and the importance of civil society in breaking cycles of violence and injustice.

„We must admit that we were deeply concerned this morning, but WHAT A SUCCESS it turned out to be! Today we went out first thing in the morning to Tarqumiyah checkpoint to prevent settlers from attacking the humanitarian aid trucks destined for Gaza.
When we arrived, so did the police, and we managed to get them to stop the settlers from attacking the aid. The settlers then moved on to the next junction, where they succeeded to damage some of the aid. As soon as we arrived, we helped organize the food they threw at the side of the road and load it back onto atruck, ensuring that it will reach its destination. We managed to secure 30 aid trucks and they made their way to Gaza. Today was the first day for the past week tin which all the aid trucks were able to pass safely on their way towards Gaza.
We are going to continue our work with the Humanitarian Guard and we need your support.
Today was incredibly important – not only did we show the settlers who came out to attack the aid trucks that there are people there protecting the aid – we also made it clear to the police that there are citizens who will hold them accountable. We are heading out tomorrow morning again, and we will continue to go out to protect the aid for as long as people are determined to loot the trucks and commit these grave crimes – and for as long as the Israeli police and Army refuse to stop these people. „
