Am Abend des 4. November

Während das Kämpfen weitergeht, Menschen sterben und kein Ausweg aus der Spirale der Gewalt in Sicht scheint, drängt die Frage nicht nur nach dem ‚Warum‘, sondern auch, was die Ereignisse der 7. Oktober verändert haben.

Eva Ilouz, französisch-israelische Professorin für Soziologie u.a. an der Hebräischen Universität, schreibt in der israelischen Tageszeitung Haaretz am 2. November 2023

Daraus hier die bemerkenswerten Schlußsätze:

„I do not hold this [seing the context] position, but this is exactly my point: I do not hold it precisely because I refuse to “contextualize” the Palestinian pain at having lost their land. To truly appreciate and understand their tragedy, to have full respect for their loss, I need to suspend the context. I ask you to do the same for me.

Many Arabs, within Israel and without, have shown the compassion the doctrinal left has so shockingly lacked. They have stood by our side. It is them with whom we must build a party of humanity determined to bring justice and peace. The global left has made itself irrelevant from now on.“
